The Connections Maps Overviews are articles with abstract, full text, and PDF views that capture the information associated with a particular pathway on a particular date. They provide a printable and portable snapshot of a particular pathway on a particular date. The article includes the pathway diagram, an abstract, the pathway description, and pathway references associated with a Connections Map on a particular date. In addition, if supplemental figures or tables were associated with the pathway, then these may also be included in the Connections Maps Overview article. Each substantive update to the pathway may be represented by a new Overview article. Therefore, navigation to the Overview articles proceeds through a index page that displays each Overview associated with a particular pathway.
Not every pathway is associated with an Overview article. For those pathways that are, you can navigate to the Overview article by choosing the Overview link from the left navigation area of a pathway, from any pathway index page in the Database of Cell Signaling or any search results that includes Connections Maps pathways.
These articles are submitted to Medline for indexing in PubMed and are fully citable. The citation may be automatically downloaded using the "Download Citation" link. These articles also facilitate peer-review of the pathway.
An example of the proper citation format for an Overview article published prior to January 2008 is shown below:
S. K. Shenoy, R. J. Lefkowitz, Angiotensin II–stimulated signaling through G proteins and β-Arrestin. Sci. STKE 2005, cm14 (2005).
An example of the proper citation format for an Overview article published after the name change to Science Signaling in January 2008 is shown below:
S. K. Shenoy, R. J. Lefkowitz, Angiotensin II–stimulated signaling through G proteins and β-Arrestin. Science Signaling 1, cm14 (2008).
