Sci. Signal., 18 November 2008 EDITORIAL GUIDESFocus Issue: An Expanding World for TGF-β SignalingEditor of Science Signaling, American Association for the Advancement of Science, 1200 New York Avenue, N.W., Washington, DC 20005, USA. Abstract: The complexity of the signaling network that is initiated by members of the transforming growth factor–β (TGF-β) superfamily continues to increase. In addition, Smads, which were originally identified as key transducers of TGF-β signals, are beginning to emerge as players in other TGF-β–independent processes. Perspectives in this issue, as well as highlights from a recent meeting on TGF-β and select resources from the Archives, spotlight this emerging complexity. * Corresponding author.
