Summary: This STKE Focus Issue describes the STKE contribution to a coordinated effort by Science and Science's Online products to bring together a series of resources highlighting the importance and application of mathematics in biology. In addition to several articles on the topic, STKE will host a Forum that will allow users to discuss modeling and simulation environments available for analysis of cellular signaling processes with the authors of the articles.
