Abstract: High-throughput technologies have enabled a rapid increase in the acquisition of data regarding cellular regulation, such as protein-protein interactions, gene expression profiling, proteomic analyses of changes in protein abundance, and global analyses of posttranslational modifications. The challenge now is for the community to devise adequate standards for assessing reliability and annotation, facilities for storage, mechanisms for sharing, and tools for visualization and analysis. In conjunction with Science (http://www.sciencemag.org/special/data), this issue of Science Signaling tackles some of the key issues related to the data deluge faced by cell signaling researchers. * Corresponding author.
