Sci. Signal., 4 October 2011 PODCASTSScience Signaling Podcast: 4 October 2011Andre Levchenko1 and Annalisa M. VanHook2
1 Department of Biomedical Engineering, Johns Hopkins University, 3400 N. Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21218, USA. Abstract: This Podcast features a conversation with the senior author of a Research Report that was published in Science Express on 15 September 2011. Andre Levchenko discusses his groups analysis of information flow through a noisy biochemical network. Modeling of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) signaling network predicted the presence of an information bottleneck early in the network, and these results were confirmed in experiments. These results highlight how populations of cells may be able to overcome noise.
