Cell Death Mediated by Fas

This animation was created by Cameron Slayden for Harald Wajant and shows how Fas ligand engagement of the Fas receptor initiates a cascade resulting in cell death. The activated Fas complex stimulates the cleavage and activation of caspase 8, which cleaves and activates caspase 3, which ultimately activate DNases, proteases, and lipases that produce apoptotic cell death.
