Cysteine Modulation in GPCR Activation

10 January 2007

PAULA, ARACENA,

I am completely ignorant in the field of GPCRs, but I do work in redox signaling field. There is a number of ideas coming to my mind right now, but before getting ahead of myself (as I usually do) I would like to ask: Is it known what type of GPCR function is altered by this "important cysteine (e.g. interaction with ligand, with subunits, etc)? And, is its location in the sequence known/conserved? I am soon to embark on independent research and I am very interested in this!
