The Science Signaling Database of Cell Signaling XML data and the Science Signaling Connections Map XML schema documentation are protected under copyright and other laws of the United States, and under international conventions and similar laws abroad.

Licenses for use of the Science Signaling Database of Cell Signaling XML data and the Science Signaling Connections Map XML schema documentation (collectively "Data")

Licenses are available for the following types of Users:

• Academic End User -- an individual at an academic or public institution who wishes to license the Science Signaling Database of Cell Signaling XML data and/or the Science Signaling Connections Map XML schema documentation for internal research purposes only
• Commercial End User -- an individual at a company or entity that engages in commercial activities who wishes to license the Science Signaling Database of Cell Signaling data and/or the Science Signaling Connections Map XML schema documentation for internal research purposes only
• Commercial Distributers or Resellers -- companies or entities that wish to provide access to the Data as part of other software and information management packages should contact sigtrans-feedback{at}highwire.stanford.edu for further information.

To obtain an end user license, please complete our Request for Data form. The appropriate License Agreement will be sent to you for your signature.

Summary of Permitted Uses

Subject to the Licensee's signed acceptance of the appropriate Science Signaling Database of Cell Signaling XML data and the Science Signaling Connections Map XML schema documentation License Agreement, Licensee shall have a nonexclusive, nontransferable right to use the Data for research and statistical analysis only, as further defined in the License Agreement.

Prohibited Uses

Except where expressly permitted in the License Agreement, Licensee may not: publish, transmit, transfer, sell, or make the Data or any portion thereof available to third parties, in any form, or by any means; copy, decompile, reverse engineer, disassemble, modify, or otherwise use the Data to create derivative works for distribution to third parties; or make any copies of the Data except as is necessary for regular research purposes or for backup purposes.

All rights not expressly granted in the License Agreement are reserved by AAAS.

Term of License

The Licenses listed above are provided for 1-year terms and may be renewed annually, subject to a written renewal agreement.

Delivery

The Data will be made available to the Licensee via password-protected HTTP site, subject to AAAS's receipt of a signed License Agreement.

Updates

The Licensee is entitled to any updates that might be made available by AAAS during the term of the License Agreement. AAAS is in no way obligated to make any updates to the Data during any term of Agreement.

Disclaimer

The Data is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, either expressed or implied, including, but not limited to, the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Descriptions of, or references to, products or publications does not imply endorsement of that product or publication.

Limitations on Liability

In no event shall AAAS be liable for any special, incidental, indirect or consequential damages of any kind arising out of or in connection with the use of the Data, whether or not advised of the possibility of damage, and on any theory of liability.
