Abstract

Science Signaling complements the Science special issue on organ development (http://www.sciencemag.org/organdevelopment) with a Perspective and Review highlighting organogenesis in plants and a Research Article on mammalian kidney formation. A Review from Crespi and Frugier focuses on the bacterial and host-generated signals that induce and regulate nodule organogenesis. A Perspective from Gray et al. addresses peptide signals that activate leucine-rich repeat (LRR) receptor pathways to regulate vein versus stoma cell fate in the leaf. In a Research Article, Tsigelny et al. report metagene analysis that revealed insight into the molecular mechanisms that drive various stages of kidney formation during mammalian embryogenesis.
