This Podcast features a conversation with the senior author of a Research Article published in the 20 December 2011 issue of Science Signaling. Peter Krammer discusses his group’s finding that suppression of conventional T cells by regulatory T cells involves inhibition of calcium signaling downstream of the T cell receptor. Understanding the mechanisms by which regulatory T cells suppress conventional T cells is important because too much suppression can dampen the antitumor response, and too little suppression can lead to autoimmune disease.
