Online Cover This week features a Research Article that suggests that the transcriptional regulator MeCP2, which is associated with the neurodevelopmental disorder Rett syndrome, is also important for T cell development. Naïve mouse CD4+ T cells deficient in MeCP2 had defective cytokine signaling and failed to generate effector T cell subsets in vitro and in mice. The image is an artist's rendition of the differentiation of a naïve CD4+ T cell (top) into different subsets of effector T cells (bottom). [Image: Chris Bickel, AAAS]
