This Podcast features an interview with Chunling Yi, senior author of a Research Article that appears in the 6 May 2014 issue of Science Signaling, about a transcription factor that is required for the progression of pancreatic metaplasia to invasive adenocarcinoma. KRAS is a small guanosine triphosphatase that mediates signaling through several different pathways that control cell growth and death. Mutations that render KRAS overactive or constitutively active are associated with various types of cancer, including pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Zhang et al. report that KRAS-dependent progression of PDAC requires the transcription factor Yap.
