Abstract

Science Signaling editor Nancy Gough and Chief Scientific Editor Michael Yaffe discuss open questions, emerging topics, and new techniques in signal transduction research. As Science Signaling continues to fulfill its mission of publishing papers elucidating basic mechanisms of signal transduction, the editors are particularly interested in new research that takes principles learned from cell culture systems back into the organism to benefit health and agriculture. Other topics of interest include host-microbe interactions, stress tolerance in plants and animals, interactions between the innate and adaptive immune systems, and stem cell biology. The editors explain how Science Signaling can serve the signaling community, highlighting the fields of systems biology and synthetic biology in particular.
