COVER This week's issue features a Research Article that describes how PKCε regulates the phosphorylation of the tight junction protein zonula occludens-1 (ZO-1), triggering its relocalization to the leading edge of subconfluent cells, where it interacts with α5 integrin to promote lamellae formation and migration. The image shows that α5 integrin (red) and ZO-1 (green) colocalize in the lamellae of a lung cancer cell line. [Image: Saara Tuomi, University of Turku and VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland] |
