ONLINE COVER This week's issue features a Research Article that describes a model for the migration of cells in a chemotactic gradient. In particular, the model describes how cells can exhibit migration either in a straight line or in an alternating left-right pattern, which occurs when the leading edge of a cell forms branched protrusions, only one of which persists. The image shows the results from a simulation of the leading edge of a migrating cell, with areas of membrane retraction (blue) and branched protrusions (red).
