ONLINE COVER This week's issue features a Research Article that provides a systems-level analysis of the differential responses of different regions of the mouse small intestine to systemic tumor necrosis factor–α (TNF-α). Computational modeling of the experimental data predicted that the effects of TNF-α were mediated by the mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase MEK—a prediction that was verified in vivo in experiments with the MEK inhibitor PD325901.
