ONLINE COVER This week features a Research Article that shows that the rabies virus glycoprotein (G protein) competes with the kinase MAST2 for binding to the phosphatase PTEN in infected cells. PTEN inhibits the survival of neurons infected with rabies virus. Disruption of the MAST2-PTEN interaction resulted in the translocation of PTEN from the nucleus to the cytoplasm.
