ONLINE COVER This week features a Research Article that suggests that the noncanonical NF-κB pathway promotes the fusion of myoblasts into multinuclear myotubes during muscle generation. In mice, loss of cIAP1, an inhibitor of the noncanonical NF-κB pathway, resulted in enhanced fusion of myoblasts compared to that in wild-type mice. The image shows a primary myotube from a mouse deficient in cIAP1, with the myotube stained in red and the nuclei in green.
