Online Cover This week features a Research Article, and an associated Perspective, describing how plants control the abundance of the brassinosteroid receptor BRI1, which responds to the plant growth hormone brassinosteroid. The mechanism involves methylation of a phosphatase, which then dephosphorylates the activated receptors, targeting them for degradation. The image shows a wild-type Arabidopsis thaliana plant (right) and a bri1 mutant plant (left). [Image: Rafael Buono, Department of Botany, University of Wisconsin]
