D
DAG:
stands for diacylglycerol; also known as 1,2-diacylglycerol; an intracellular signaling lipid produced by hydrolysis of membrane lipids; Connections Map Component -- 1,2-Diacylglycerol
DAPI:
stands for 4′,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole; a dye that binds nucleic acid and is used to label nuclei
DARK:
stands for Drosophila Apaf-1 related killer, part of a complex that activates the initiator caspase DRONC, which leads to apoptosis
DARPP-32:
stands for dopamine- and an adenosine 3′,5′-monophosphate (cAMP)-regulated phospho-protein of 32 kilodaltons; cytosolic protein that has been implicated in the regulation of kinase-phosphatase signaling cascades that are modulated by dopamine, glutamate and serotonin
DCP-1:
stands for Drosophila caspase 1, an effector caspase involved in apoptosis, is similar in sequence to mammalian caspase-3
DD:
stands for death domain; Connections Map Component -- Fas-associated protein with death domain
DDB1:
stands for damaged DNA-binding protein 1; a component of ubiquitin ligase complexes
DDR:
stands for discoidin domain receptors; Connections Map Component -- Receptor tyrosine protein kinase
DED:
stands for death effector domain; Connections Map Component -- Death effector domain-containing DNA binding protein
DGK:
stands for diacylglycerol (DAG) kinase; an enzyme that converts DAG to phosphatidic acid; Connections Map Component -- Diacylglycerol kinase
DGPP:
stands for diacylglycerol pyrophosphate
DHA:
stands for docosahexaenoic acid; an n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid
DHHC-CRD:
stands for Asp-His-His-Cys (DHHC), cysteine-rich domain (CRD); a motif found in a family of proteins with palmitoyl acyl transferase activity and 4 to 6 transmembrane domains
Dia2:
a Diaphanous-related formin; formins contribute to actin nucleation and Dia2 is involved in filopodium formation
DIAP1:
stands for Drosophila inhibitor of apoptosis protein 1, a fly protein that inhibits the activity of the initiator caspase DRONC and the effector caspases DRICE and DCP-1
DISC:
stands for death-inducing signaling complex; a protein complex that is initiated by binding of Fas ligand to its receptor, which ultimately triggers apoptosis
Dkk:
stands for Dickkopf; an inhibitor of Wnt signaling; Connections Map Component -- Dickkopf
DLK:
stands for dual-leucine-zipper-bearing kinases, a class of mixed lineage kinases (MLKs); Connections Map Components -- Mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinase 12 | Mitogen-activated protein kinase kinase kinases

stands for dynamin-like protein 1; member of the dynamin family of large GTPases
DMEM:
stands for Dulbecco's Modified Eagle's Medium
DOCK180:
a member of the CDM (Ced-5 of Caenorhabditis elegans, DOCK180 of mammals, Mbc of Drosophila melanogaster) family of proteins that function as Rac guanine nucleotide exchange factors; Connections Map Component -- DOCK180
Dpp:
stands for decapentaplegic; a member of the bone morphogenetic protein family
DRAM:
stands for damage-regulated autophagy modulator; a lysosomal transmembrane protein that is involved in autophagy and contributes to p53-mediated cell death
DRASIC:
stands for dorsal root acid sensing ion channel; a cation channel that has been implicated in the detection of cutaneous touch
DREDD:

DRG:
stands for dorsal root ganglion
DRICE:
stands for Drosophila ICE, which is a fly homolog of the interleukin-1β converting enzyme (ICE) and may be an effector caspase in apoptosis
DRONC:
stands for Drosophila Nedd2-like caspase, a cysteine protease that participates in apoptosis and is the only initiator caspase in flies
