Online Cover This week features a Research Article that shows how mutations in the kinase LRRK2 contribute to neurodegeneration in Parkinson's disease. LRRK2 phosphorylated amyloid precursor protein (APP), which promoted the transcriptional activity of the APP intracellular domain, leading to the loss of dopaminergic neurons in a mouse model. The image shows immunofluorescent staining of neuronal markers in cultures of iPSC-derived human dopaminergic neurons.
