Abstract
This issue of Science’s STKE features research into the pathophysiology of cancer cells. The featured articles describe how malignancy may arise due to the subversion of normal cellular functions, the signaling pathways involved, and new approaches to cancer therapy that involve the exploitation of oncogenic changes. The research presented provides an optimistic outlook for translating new understanding of cell signaling into novel therapies.
