Online Cover This week features a Research Article that demonstrates a role for the E3 ubiquitin ligase Itch in inhibiting skin inflammation in mice. In the skin of Itch-deficient mice, accumulated Tab1 protein bound to and activated the kinase p38α to cause inflammation. Blocking the Tab1-p38α interaction in these mice with a peptide led to decreased p38α activity and skin inflammation. This strategy might be applied to treat human inflammatory disorders.
